Writing Task 1 – synopsis

The course for Task 1 writing includes 12 video lessons taking our learners through a guided journey to writing the perfect answers for Task 1 questions. The course begins with the essential components necessary for all T1 answers and then concentrates on the various question types that feature in this part of the test.

One of the greatest difficulties for candidates in Task 1 is understanding the language needed for each question type and the difference between them because there are several different forms in which the data may be presented and each requires a slightly different approach. Basically, there is a lot to learn!

Course methodology

The course videos clearly and simply explain all of the elements and language needed for successful Task 1 writing. These include:

  • how to analyse the data that is presented
  • how to organize the data correctly into logical paragraphs
  • writing an effective and introduction
  • selecting the correct information for the overview and how to write the overview sentence(s)
  • how to select the key features from the data to include in your report (and, equally important, what not to include)
  • the language needed for each and every question type featured in the IELTS T1 examination
  • a step-by-step guide for each question type which includes (for each type), data analysis, paragraph planning and writing the answer
  • for each question type you are shown paragraph by paragraph and sentence by sentence how to construct a complete and high-scoring answer including key points and examples for improving vocabulary and grammar structures
  • How to write coherently and to effectively use cohesive devices in the presentation of your answers.
