Program Overview
The Spoken English Speech Buddy program is designed to help learners build confidence and fluency in everyday communication through structured, theme-based conversational practice.
It follows the European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), progressing from A1 (Beginner) to C2 (Proficient), with each level providing real-world speaking opportunities aligned with the learner’s linguistic development.
Curriculum Framework
The curriculum is built around 10 key communication themes, each containing 5 real-life conversation scenarios per level.
This ensures that students move from basic everyday exchanges to complex social and cultural communication, while continuously improving pronunciation, grammar, and fluency through AI-supported feedback.

Continuity of Themes (A1–B1):
At the foundational stages, learners are still developing linguistic confidence and communicative competence.
Keeping the same set of themes for A1, A2, and B1 serves several instructional and cognitive purposes:
- Reinforcement through familiarity: Learners build language through repetition of known contexts. The familiar topics lower anxiety and allow focus on grammar, fluency, and pronunciation rather than new content.
- Spiral progression: Each level deepens the same theme linguistically — from simple identification to description, then to expression of opinions or feelings.
- Cognitive ease: Using the same topics across lower levels aligns with how language is naturally acquired — gradually expanding function and complexity without cognitive overload.
- Functional mastery: Learners revisit core social contexts (introductions, family, school, hobbies, shopping, travel, etc.) while progressively improving the accuracy, vocabulary range, and discourse control required to handle them more naturally.

Introduction of New Themes (B2–C2):
From B2 onward, learners move beyond routine communication into conceptual, analytical, and expressive use of English.
Here, entirely new and cognitively rich themes are introduced to enable complex thinking and cultural expression.
- B2 (Upper Intermediate): Learners discuss global issues, social media, technology, and current affairs. Focus shifts from “describing” to “arguing” and “negotiating.”
- C1 (Advanced): Learners develop argumentation, persuasion, and critical reflection — themes involve ethics, relationships, cultural identity, and global communication.
- C2 (Proficient): Learners engage in abstract, philosophical, and cross-cultural discourse, demonstrating linguistic precision, empathy, and sociocultural awareness.
